pda info

hey all...im a semester ahead of you guys and i wanted to let you know about the pda programs that i have found very useful. first...get a drug guide, i have the one that comes with the constellation. i never use the constellation, so i suggest just getting the drug guide program by itself. you should also get tabers medical dictionary. i like the nursing diagnosis program since you will do alot of them. diseases and disorders is also useful, as well as signs and symptoms. i also have nursing procedures. those are all the programs that i had for 1st semester. if you guys have any more questions feel free to ask.

Rajpreet

hey Rajpreet, this is Sean. We met on the day of the ati testing. To start a new post, there should be a link at the top right hand corner , it says new post. You can only do this after you sign in. To sign in, you have to sign in with the google account, your screen name is you email address and whatever password you chose the first time. Hope this was helpful. As for the pda programs, i have no idea wat to get or wat is useful. I have heard constellation is a must but that's about it.

Littmann ID Tags anyone?

Hi all... I have 3 grey Littmann Identification Tags available at $2.50 (my cost) if anyone is interested. They are brand new in separate packages w/instructions and 2 nameplates, one of which is engravable. I will keep them with me until sold. I bought a bundle of 5 because it was a better deal than buying 1 from another vendor & I liked the Littmann tags better than the other brand... Just thought I'd pass on the savings to anyone else that wanted to personalize their stethoscope. Happy Studying!

Welcome to Nursing

Sorry that I have been a slacker in posting to your blog. My class is a little preoccupied with preparing for our upcoming NCLEX exams.
As soon as I get through it I'll be a little more active with the helpful stuff. For lots of help now, click on the links to all of the previous semester's blogs and check out their archives. Go back to their first month and you will find that they were right where you are now and there is lots of helpful tips and advice for you to find there. Share whatever useful stuff that you find with your classmates by copying the link or tip to a post of your own. It saves a lot of time, stress and sweat. A lot of your busy work has already been done for you, all you have to do is reach out and take it.

In the meantime, if I can help you in anyway, I can be reached at

Nursing Tea Chair

A long honored tradition in Delta's ADN program is that the first semester students put on a tea for the incoming next semester students, and I am looking for someone who is interested in Chairing the Tea for the next semester students. I have many supplies left over, that will be available to you for the next tea. I have a folder that outlines everything for you on what to do and how to do it. There is contacts for hospitals as well, and all the poem info. Also I still have left over items for the poem. When someone takes on this job I an willing to help them out. The sooner someone gets started the better. Let me know who is going to be the new chair from your group. You can post here on the blog or contact me via e-mail bjbuonauro@verizon.net
Thanks

It's a 1700 sq.ft. house, 2 story, 3 bed, 2.5 bath, & 2 car garage in the Morada Ranch area. The house is only 1 year old and still looks brand new. If you're interested please feel free to contact me.

In today's Modesto Bee (Sunday) there is an article entitled "Nursing students decry planned lottery". According to the article the California Community College Chancellors Office is pushing for all Nursing programs to moved to a lottery system to determine who gets into the program. From my understanding, this would mean that you get in based on luck, not qualifications.
The article is pretty interesting and worth reading. It is in Section B- Local News. Here is a link to the article online : http://www.modbee.com/local/story/13218335p-13856155c.html

Dizziness RT ND lecture AEB head spinning

For those of you who, like me, were a bit lost after the nursing diagnosis lecture, check out the RN pocket guide (the yellow book-or software-whichever you have). It gives a list of NANDA approved nursing dxs. It also gives prioritized nursing interventions. I browsed through and I think it is going to be a wonderful tool/guide on how we should start thinking as well as what interventions fall within our scope of care.
*The software is completely cross ref'ed. Click any underlined word. Oh blessed PDAs!!!
**There is also a list of ND terms on page 1445 of our Fundamentals book.

Printing to FedEx Kinkos

Those of you who do not have access to print or wish not to use up all your ink and paper at home, you can print lectures and the skills lab workbook to FedEx Kinkos.

http://www.fedex.com/us/officeprint/main/index.html

Download the document make changes that you want and save the file(s) to your computer. Go to the FedEx Kinko's website and go to "ONLINE SERVICES". Select "PRINT TO FEDEX KINKO'S" and from the options that pop up from there, select "PRINT ONLINE". Select "START A NEW PRINT JOB" and then select the file that you want to upload (select "browse" to locate your files). Select "ADD FILE TO JOB LIST". You must do this for EACH file one at a time. Once the file(s) have uploaded, then select the "SET PRINT OPTIONS" ... here is where you can select black and white or color, single or double sided, stapled or three hole punched etc. You then "SUBMIT JOBS" and then it will go to a check out process. Here is where you will select what Kinko's you would like your print job to be sent to for pick up. Follow the prompts and instructions and you should be good to go!!!

Hope this helps those of you who are having difficulties printing.

INFO on PDA's

Hi Everyone:

I just wanted to let those of you who have not purchased a PDA yet (and are tight on cash) know if you check out EBAY, there are several sellers that have the Palm Life Drive (new) and they have many of them for sale for around $239.00 - $280.00. Just do a search for "New Palm Life Drive" and that should bring up the life drives that are for sale.

Good luck.
Melissa

Clarification on Fundimentals Reading

FYI:

I talked to Mrs. Semillo today about our readings for lecture. We are expected to read all of Chapter 23 and Scan through Chapter 1 on the Nursing Process! Good Luck Reading :)

I hope this helps,
Michelle McDaniel

Quiz #1 Writing Assignment

Hi Everyone-

Does anyone know where to find the information regarding the writing assignment Mrs. Semillo was talking about at orientation? I can't seem to find it.

Introduction

Hi Everyone,
My name is Megan and I am one of your new blog administrators. I am looking forward to helping you with any questions you may have regarding this blog and I can't wait to meet all of you as the new semester unfolds. Congratulations for being accepted into the program!

If you missed the orientation... & PDA Tips

Hi all...
Sean was asking about where to look for a PDA, so...my advice is to research the latest PDAs via sites like www.cnet.com and google for reviews on them and prices before you buy. Then check out Staples, Office Depot, Office Max and any other local office supply vendors to compare prices and availability.

About the orientation, review the SJDC ADN Student Handbook & the SJDC Nursing 1: Fundamentals in Nursing booklet. Mrs. Semillo predominantly focused on these and reinforced general policies such as dress code, tardiness, etc.

Finally, during the orientation in the South Forum, I lost my notepad that we rec'd at the Tea; it had all my notes on it from the Tea. Did anyone find it? It was probably in the middle section, 1st or 2nd row near the podium.
Regards,
Liz
